This 8-week hybrid course provides an in-depth, clinically rigorous exploration of substance-related and addictive disorders across the lifespan. Participants will strengthen diagnostic skills, develop integrated and trauma-informed treatment plans, and learn phase-based recovery strategies grounded in evidence-based practice.
The course covers disorders including Alcohol Use Disorder, Opioid Use Disorder, Stimulant Use Disorder, Cannabis Use Disorder, Sedative/Hypnotic/Anxiolytic Use Disorder, Tobacco Use Disorder, Gambling Disorder, and emerging behavioral addictions. Participants will examine the neurobiology of addiction, motivational dynamics, co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), harm reduction, relapse prevention, family systems impact, and ethical issues in clinical practice.
Evidence-based interventions, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Contingency Management, relapse-prevention planning, trauma-informed care, and long-term recovery stabilization, are emphasized. The hybrid format combines live interactive sessions, recorded lectures, applied exercises, case consultations, and reflective assignments, equipping participants with the skills needed to support stabilization, recovery, and sustained functional improvement.
