This 4-week hybrid course provides a comprehensive exploration of grief and bereavement counseling across the lifespan. Participants will gain knowledge of grief theories, models of bereavement, and evidence-based interventions to support individuals experiencing loss due to death, illness, divorce, or other life transitions.
The course integrates theoretical frameworks, developmental and cultural perspectives, and practical clinical skills. Participants will learn to conduct grief assessments, recognize normal and complicated grief reactions, and develop individualized treatment plans to foster adaptive coping, emotional processing, and resilience.
Evidence-based interventions, including narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral strategies, meaning-making approaches, and supportive counseling techniques, will be emphasized. The hybrid format combines live interactive sessions, recorded lectures, applied exercises, case consultations, and reflective assignments, enabling participants to build competence in grief counseling while maintaining ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices.
