On February 7, 2026, I had the distinct privilege of traveling to Lagos, Nigeria for the Integrative Ruminations (IR) Workshop. The theme for this year’s gathering, “Building Clinical Competence: Transformational Tools for Mental Health Counseling and Healthcare Providers,” could not have been more timely or relevant.
From the moment the workshop began, it was clear that this would be a meaningful and impactful experience for everyone in attendance. Mental health professionals, counselors, healthcare providers, and helping practitioners gathered with a shared purpose: to strengthen their clinical competence and expand their capacity to serve individuals, families, and communities with excellence.

A Transformative Experience
The workshop was a tremendous success. There was a powerful sense of engagement in the room—participants were not merely attendees but active contributors. The opportunity to interact, ask questions, share real-life clinical experiences, and reflect together created a rich learning environment. The discussions were thoughtful, practical, and deeply relevant to the realities of mental health practice in our communities.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the conference was the caliber of our speakers. Each presenter brought expertise, passion, and practical insight. They provided transformational tools that attendees can immediately integrate into their clinical and healthcare work. The depth of knowledge shared, combined with a spirit of humility and collaboration, made the sessions both intellectually stimulating and personally inspiring.

Gratitude for a Successful Gathering
I am deeply grateful for the success of this conference. It is always encouraging to witness professionals who are committed to growth and lifelong learning. The enthusiasm, openness, and professionalism of our participants made the workshop truly exceptional.
I also extend heartfelt appreciation to our speakers, organizers, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a seamless and impactful event. Your dedication made this gathering not just an event, but a movement toward stronger, more competent, and more compassionate mental health care.
Continuing the Mission: Training with the Psychotherapy Institute of IR
The momentum does not stop here. The Psychotherapy Institute of Integrative Ruminations (IR) remains committed to offering high-quality trainings on various mental health and social issues affecting our communities today. Our programs are designed to equip practitioners with practical skills, theoretical grounding, and culturally responsive approaches that elevate clinical practice.
Registration for our next series of trainings will open on March 2, and classes will begin on March 28. These upcoming trainings will provide in-depth instruction in key areas of mental health and social care, continuing our mission of professional excellence and transformational impact. You can find information about IR’s trainings on our website – http://www.integrativeruminations.com
A Commitment to Healing Nations
At Integrative Ruminations, we believe that when practitioners are well-equipped, entire communities benefit. IR is committed to equipping practitioners to serve their nations by healing the people who need our services most. When clinicians grow in competence and confidence, individuals and families experience restoration, resilience, and hope.
Our time in Lagos was more than a workshop; it was a reminder that the work of mental health care is sacred, urgent, and transformative. I return from Nigeria encouraged, inspired, and deeply satisfied with what we accomplished together.
The future is bright, and we look forward to continuing this journey of growth, learning, and healing together.
